The Treasurer’s Corner
I cannot take Ross’s place. I may become treasurer but I can’t and wouldn’t even try to take his place. Ross was able to keep manual records – I can’t do that. I have begun a database system, which will allow me to download transactions from the bank and maintain dues, events and other payments in an Access Database.
A significant change will be the way we send everyone their newsletter. Last month I emailed everyone who had an email address, asking them if they would like to continue receiving the newsletter via email – some said no and most said yes. I also sent out a post card to those for whom we did not have an email address. Of those who responded, most sent in an email address and asked to receive their newsletter by email. The cost of postage and printing is becoming significant and we are attempting to minimize the costs and apply those savings elsewhere without having to raise our dues. Please, please let us know if you would like to receive your newsletter by email. I know some folks do not have Internet – we will be glad to send you the newsletter by postal mail. Others read their email once every month whether they need to or not – we will send you a postal mail also – but please, please let us know what you would like us to do.
Our Chapter also has a new address. I go to the base once a month (except for Sunday golf) to push the cart at the commissary for my favorite friend. I pass the O’Fallon Post office every day. Therefore, we have moved our P.O. Box to O’Fallon. Our new address is:
Southwest Illinois Chapter
Military Officers Association of America
P.O. Box 735
O’Fallon, IL 62269
Scott AFB (our old postal location) will forward our mail to the above address for the next three months.
